Shepherd's Care serves the Hickory Nut Gorge (Western North Carolina), a four county area - parts of Rutherford, Polk, Henderson, and Buncombe Counties by assisting families/individuals with food, shelter, housing, medical, health, scholarships, and short term emergencies.

In our Thrift Store you can find great bargains on gently used furniture, clothing for women, children, and men. We have household items, electronics, jewelry, books and much more. Our prices are competitively priced. Each week we receive new items to put out on the floor, so stop by on a regular basis.
The purpose of our store is:
* To provide a needed service to the community. Shepherd's Care Thrift Store offers quality used goods at low prices for those on a tight budget.
* Free Clothing and household items to agency-referred clients.
* All proceeds go toward assisting families/individuals with food, shelter, housing, medical, health and sort term emergencies.
Please Note: Sometimes we have customers who shop in our store and express that our prices are higher than they need/should be. We do our best to put a fair price on each item. Local folks who donate their items to us expect us to get the best price for the donations given.
We feel we are competitive with our prices.
Sometimes when items are donated to Shepherd's Care, we do not make any money because if a family and/or individual are referred to us by local churches or social services agencies and other nonprofit organizations we give items w/o client paying for item(s).
Our first obligation is to the people in the Gorge who need assistance with food, furniture etc. We do our very best to help those who need it and also to make money from the thrift store sales to allow us to continue with our outreach services.
We realize that we can't please everyone, however, we do our very best to meet the needs of our clients first and then our customers second. We hope our customers understand.
We are always in need of the following items:
Office Furniture,children's furniture, household goods i.e. dishes, pots and pans, anything one needs to set up house/home. Also, we ask you to please bring someone to help you take home heavy items i.e. furniture since most of our volunteers are not able to lift due to their age. We wish we had younger volunteers who could lift and do the heavy work, however, at the present time we do not. Your help with this would be most appreciated.
Drop Off & Pick Up:
We will come to your home or office to pick up items, however, we appreciate those of you who are able to drop off items at Shepherd's Care during our store hours. (Wednesdays - Fridays - 10 am - 4 pm and on Saturdays 10 am - 1 pm)
